DIY Drill Press Stand with Storage Plans

Great, easy to follow plans. I had to use smaller casters to bring the overall height down for the 12 inch drill press. I have purchased multiple other shop plans that are still waiting to be built.

The plans were easy to follow for a beginner. Even with a couple of mistakes on my part it still turned out better than expected .

I had several issues with the build. Several were minor and overcome, one was more serious.
- the casters specified had very large mounting holes and none of the fasteners specified in the plans would work. I had to find alternatives (not a biggie)
- the drawer pulls came with mounting hardware for a single drawer face I believe but with the false drawer fronts the screws needed to be 3/4" longer. I watched the video where the pulls appeared to work, something off there (OK, getting annoying)
- steps 4-6 need to be swapped with 7. That way the slides are in place and drawer width can be physically verified before finishing the drawers with no recourse. This would be a simple mistake proofing. I ended up with 4 of 5 drawers slightly (1/32") too wide and had to route out a slot to make the slides work well. I watched all the videos multiple times but the plans are assuming perfect cuts. Not good. I am just starting out so steps that can check fit before gluing and mailing are important. This really needs attention.
- another niggler, 3/4" breads are used in the build sequence but not listed in the materiel BOM.
It looks like these plans have been around a while, I would have thought they would be cleaner. I will be looking around for my next build plans. Hope this helps.

Love the plans, and the ease of building this - looks great in the shop with my 12" Jet Drill Press - it would be AWESOME if you designed a Drill Press Table at some point in time - but this is a great project!

Fix this Build That offered the perfect mounting solution for the new larger table top drill press I recently purchased.
I have very little workbench space in my garage but did have a little room off to the side unused where the new cabinet fit nicely. The new press is taller than old one, so having height of this cabinet a bit lower than my bench height created a more ergonomic solution. Putting cabinet on wheels allows it to be easily rolled out onto shop floor if needed for putting holes in larger pieces. The drawers allowed consolidation of various drilling supplies which had previously been scattered in various places around the shop into the spot right where they are needed, and still extra storage to boot. Full extension soft close glides make drawers 100% accessible. Being situated in a bit of a corner I was also able to fabricate a simple cardboard shield to keep chips under control and easier to clean up. I put laminate top on it and bolted drill to the deck , which I think made whole thing more stable.
The instructions for building it were easy to follow, the utilization of material was excellent; I could not be happier with the outcome. I suppose I could have designed my own cabinet from scratch, spent time doing part layout on plywood, etc., but would not have achieved this good of a result. The nominal price paid for these plans was money well spent! Thank you for this great service. I would gladly buy more such plans but as yet have not had a specific need.
